We continue to experience significant growth and have an exciting development in the CoP department. We are looking to set up a new team to add to our highly acclaimed CoP staff and have the following opportunities.
As a Court of Protection Solicitor, you will be working predominantly on welfare and s21A cases but wider CoP experience would be a distinct advantage. You must have a proven track record of managing your caseload efficiently and also effectively leading a team and contributing to the development of the department. You will be advising and supporting individuals who lack capacity to make decisions about their care, treatment and living arrangements. Visiting vulnerable adults in care settings. Drafting court applications, representing clients in Court and attending hearings with Counsel, advising on capacity issues, best-interest decisions and Court of Protection applications.
Whilst managing your caseload you will ensure you monitor work in progress and will bill matters promptly and accurately in line with Legal Aid Agency rules. In this role you will be leading your own team and effectively delegating and supervising tasks to ensure work is carried out to the highest level whilst developing junior staff. As a leader we expect you to manage your team in a supportive, respectful and positive manner and to embody the core values of Peter Edwards Law.
The successful candidate will have at least 4 years PQE handling complex CoP cases and must be able to demonstrate knowledge of Legal Aid funding and have experience of case plans. ALR status would be desirable. You will need to be an excellent communicator both with your team and your clients and demonstrate effective time management and organisational skills with the ability to work positively under tight deadlines.
