Court of Protection team

We continue to experience significant growth and have an exciting development in the CoP department. We are looking to set up a new team to add to our highly acclaimed CoP staff and have the following opportunities.

The role – Court of Protection Paralegal

We are looking to find an experienced CoP Paralegal to join a new team in our CoP department. You will be supporting a CoP Solicitor on predominantly welfare and s21A cases and must have a minimum of 2 years legal experience preferably within a CoP team.

As a Paralegal you will play a crucial role in supporting not only the team Solicitor but all members in the team. Your key tasks will include:

  • Drafting documentation and correspondence
  • Reviewing experts reports and disclosure
  • Instructing counsel/experts
  • Attending client visits
  • Assisting with preparation of case plans
  • Attending hearings with solicitor
  • Recording orders and other key data and dates
  • Drafting cost increases and other LAA enquiries, responses and amendments
  • Taking notes in meetings and teleconferences
  • Diary management and general case management

This role requires effective verbal and written communication skills, empathy and resilience and excellent time management and organisational skills. You will need to have experience of working within MCA/CoP and have a good understanding of working with the Legal Aid Agency. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is also essential.
