We are seeking a Civil Design Engineer, established in the chosen discipline to join our team. The role will involve the design of infrastructure and non-infrastructure utility projects within our Water Framework. From concept, detailed design through to construction and commissioning you will assist our team of distinguished Engineers.

  • Working alongside our team of engineers, performing internal and external activities associated with civil and drainage design, in line with client specifications and design standards.
  • Design duties will include preparation of design solutions at various stages of a project; preparation of drawings, reports, specifications, calculations and estimates; attendance at Client meetings.
  • Production of engineering drawings.
  • Organising and assisting with design inputs (surveys and investigations) and assisting with the preparation of drawings, reports and specifications.
  • Contributing and defining solutions for design challenges.
  • Overseeing the administration of design assurance and quality control.
  • Knowledge of water industry standards and WIMES/CIWEM.
  • Managing the compilation and submission of completion information to successfully close out projects in a timely manner.
  • Defining the resolution of technical issues on projects and providing technical guidance to other team members, such as junior engineers, technicians, and apprentices.
  • Create and maintain good relations with all stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with a wide range of multi-discipline inputs; monitoring and protecting our client relationships; assisting with planning and programming; commercial management and presenting & coordinating projects for audit.
  • Attend Engineering Expos and implement the very latest technologies in the Industry, staying up to date with modern developments.
  • Being a leader with relevant Health & Safety regulations and to promote a culture of awareness within the team.
  • Lead by example to others on site and implement best practice procedures within the team and site personnel.
  • Participate in maintaining quality and environmental control procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Engineer and ideally chartered or a member of a relevant institution i.e. ICE.
  • Have suitable civil design experience of water treatment, including drainage, clean water, separation and waste treatment, gained through working on projects within the UK water sector.
  • Have knowledge of the UK Water Industry and Sewer Sector Guidance standards for drainage design.
  • Have expertise in software design methods such as AutoCAD, Revit and Civils3D; knowledge of integration with BIM models would be desirable.
  • Be technically competent in hydraulic design principles and ability to apply manual calculation methods.
  • Hydraulic profiling and surge analysis knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Expertise on the design of concrete slabs, retaining walls and hardstandings.
  • Have excellent soft skills.
  • Have a willingness to learn, develop and improve skills.
  • Have a full UK driving license.
