The Petauri Evidence HEOR team focuses on the technical aspects of evidence-based decision-making. We are a team with extensive experience of health economics, medical statistics and HTA. As well as providing consultancy services to the pharmaceutical industry, we support UK HTA decision-making through a collaboration with PenTAG, and by providing statistical support to the Scottish Medicines Consortium. Our experience covers economic modelling (early, global, HTA) and statistical analyses (such as survival modelling, indirect treatment comparisons, and matching methods) and independent considered advice. We take pride in communication of our work through submission dossiers, EAG reports, conference proceedings and publications.
As a Consultant Health Economist, you will work across the business providing health economics and modelling expertise, to support the successful delivery of client projects and internal workstreams. In this role, you would require support both on- and off-project from senior colleagues. You will be required to work closely with colleagues within multi-disciplinary project teams and externally with clients, external associates and third-party agencies to achieve project objectives.
- Technical - General
- Demonstrates a broad range of technical skills and is able to apply these confidently and independently in a client-facing project capacity.
- Ensure quality control approaches are followed on all own projects and support given to junior members of the team in QC activities.
- Supports efforts to improve QC practices and ways of working.
- Leads on the development of methodological approaches for client project delivery, ensuring their needs are being met through the project delivery.
- Demonstrates the ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex concepts and outcomes in verbal and written form.
- Technical - HEOR specific
- Leads on the development of project methodology and approaches e.g. model conceptualisation or statistical analysis plans, to effectively deliver on client requirements.
- Applies a broad range of technical skills and experience to meet the strategic needs and direction of the client project.
- Clear understanding of HE/statistical practices relevant to their role, and can communicate methods effectively to clients/stakeholders through different means (presentations, discussions, written reports etc.).
- Project leadership and consulting
- Confidently and effectively able to lead certain projects.
- Able to offer a sound partnership approach to clients.
- A confident communicator, leads on most elements of client communications; this may include support from a senior leader for particularly complex or challenging messaging or strategy.
- Has a broad understanding of wider HEOR and market access approaches as applicable to project and is able to engage colleagues wider in the business to meet client need.
- Ensure deliverables are submitted on time and according to budget.
- Effective management of own time and asks, proactively raising any resourcing issues as needed with line management, project leads, and the workload planning group.
- People Leadership
- May undertake line management responsibilities for 1-2 junior team members.
- Mentors and supports junior members of the project team.
- Team (functional) leadership
- Contributes to internal initiatives to support team development e.g. training or best practice materials, particularly in relation to good project management and consulting skills.
- Business development, thought leadership & external presence
- Confidently leads on proposal development within the HEOR team, and with the wider PE group.
- Clearly communicates the value of the proposal approach and understanding of the wider context for the client.
- Participates in scoping and introductory calls with client, including pitch presentations.
- Starts to build and develop longer-term client relationships, potentially within key accounts.
- May represent Petauri at client meetings, conferences and other external forums.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years industry experience (i.e., consulting or the pharmaceutical industry).
- Degree at a 2:1 or above in an analytical subject (for instance mathematics, economics, engineering or science-based subjects).
- Demonstrable expertise in conceptualising, developing, and delivering a range of health economic models.
- Up to date knowledge of health economic modelling methods and HTA systems/processes.
- Highly autonomous with evidence of critical thinking, sound judgement and excellent communication skills.
- Excellent Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel skills.
- Highly motivated team player.
- An outstanding eye for detail and quality.
- Experience in project leading/managing the successful delivery of multiple projects.
