Position Summary
This position is a senior level-manufacturing role that must adhere to quality standards and maintain CGMP training and training to applicable standard operating procedures. This role is expected to assist the Production Supervisor in the day-to-day activities of compounding operations. This role serves as a team lead for the production staff to coordinate with quality specialists, warehouse personnel, and train the Compound Operator in processing products according to batch records and company SOPs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Coordination
- Oversee and coordinate daily compound operator activities in alignment with Production Supervisor directives.
- Provide training and coaching to compound operators on production procedures, batch execution, and SOPs.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and efficiency on the production floor.
- Maintain punctuality and attendance to support the operations schedule.
Production Operations & Batch Execution
- Stage, measure, and mix raw materials into finished product according to batch card instructions.
- Ensure production processes follow established SOPs and batch records from order execution through completion.
- Understand and manage operational pace to ensure assignments are completed in a timely manner.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and KPI tracking related to production performance.
Quality, Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food manufacturing regulations, including Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), FDA, and applicable pet food safety standards.
- Perform periodic quality checks on manufacturing personnel to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Verify all raw materials are released and staged quantities are approved by QA per Work Instruction Sheets.
- Adhere to and enforce allergen control procedures, including segregation, correct identification, and prevention of cross-contamination.
- Conduct pre-operational and in-process checks to confirm equipment cleanliness, material integrity, and compliance with food safety requirements.
Documentation & Systems
- Operate and utilize ERP scan gun systems to transfer raw materials and maintain accurate production records.
- Ensure batch documentation, material movements, and production data are completed accurately and in real time.
- Communicate effectively with cross functional departments regarding production status or issues.
Safety, Equipment & Housekeeping
- Comply with all safety regulations and PPE requirements.
- Operate forklifts, skyjacks, and related equipment safely.
- Identify and escalate safety hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
Other
- Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in a lead role required
- Knowledge and experience in ERP systems
- Basic mathematical knowledge needed.
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Must have good communication skills and be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Able to stand for long periods of time as well as bend and lift 55lb bags.
