PETA are proud to be working with KJ Smith Family Law to recruit and train a confident and organised Accounts Apprentice. Playing a key role in supporting the finance function of the firm, gaining hands-on experience across billing, purchase ledger and general accounts processes. This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills within a professional services environment whilst working towards a recognised qualification.
The role of the Purchase Ledger Assistant is to report to the Finance Manager. In this role, you will work closely with the in-house Procurement team on relating queries, also liaise with suppliers via email and telephone to ensure timely resolution of any outstanding issues.
- Ensure purchase ledger procedures are followed for approval and inputted in a timely manner.
- Run weekly payment runs and send to directors/finance manager for approval.
- Carry out AD Hoc Duties as required to support the Accounts team.
Training to be provided:
- Level 2 Finance/Accounts Assistant Apprenticeship Standard. You will complete a 15-month apprenticeship which includes 1 day per week at the PETA training centre in Cosham. You will be supported every 6-8 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach.
About the role:
The Accounts Apprentice will be responsible for contributing to the efficient operation of the finance department. Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Manage the purchase ledger inbox
- Process purchase ledger invoices – foreign and domestic
- Manage and maintain supplier statement reconciliations
- Contact suppliers regarding invoice queries or missing credit notes
- Process personal expenses
- Run weekly/monthly BACS/foreign payment runs
- General accounts support
- Ensure that all deadlines are met within set timeframes
What are the career prospects?
Once you have completed the Level 2 AAT Apprenticeship, there would be the opportunity to complete the Level 3 apprenticeship and further learning and development.
Essential Skills:
It is essential that the Finance Apprentice has the following skills and personal qualities:
- GCSEs in maths and English with at least a grade C/4 or equivalent
- Problem solving
- Communication
- Ability to work to deadlines with pace and accuracy
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Excellent organisational skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office package
