PET-Xi Training is seeking experienced and passionate Alternative Provision Practitioners to work with Key Stage 3 and 4 learners who require a bespoke and supportive educational approach. This is a self-employed, sub-contractor role, delivering Maths and English up to GCSE level within alternative provision settings.

The Role

You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated Maths and English sessions to small groups or individual learners, many of whom may face barriers to mainstream education. You will play a vital role in supporting academic progress, engagement, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Maths and English up to GCSE level to KS3 and KS4 students
  • Work effectively with learners in alternative provision settings
  • Plan, prepare and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Monitor progress and provide clear feedback to learners and PET-Xi staff
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to learner reviews
  • Uphold safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusive practice at all times

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience working with students in alternative provision or similar settings
  • Ability to confidently deliver Maths and English to GCSE level
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • An understanding of trauma-informed and learner-centred approaches
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive, flexible and resilient approach to teaching

Desirable

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching/tutoring qualification
  • Experience working with learners with SEMH, SEND, or disengaged learners
  • Functional Skills or GCSE teaching experience in alternative provision contexts
