Store Shift Supervisor

Overview

Responsibilities

• Assist a neighbor in choosing the perfect toy for a lab who loves to fetch.
• Greet weekly regular Bruno the Chihuahua when he comes in with his human mom.
• Demonstrate to customers how to test water in a fish tank.
• Set an example for the team in delivering exceptional neighborly service.
• Assist store leaders by reinforcing daily operational procedures and performance expectations.
• Engage with PSP neighbors and maintain a positive demeanor.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of retail experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong sales and customer service skills.
• Ability to operate all store equipment (including a forklift) and to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, reliable transportation, and must pass the drug screening (where allowed by law) and be 18 years or older.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with store leaders to learn and reinforce PSP standards and daily management routines.
• Provide leadership coverage and perform management functions up to four times per week when leaders are offsite.
• Adhere to operational policies and procedures that ensure cleanliness, animal care, safety, and security.
• Learn and perform back-office procedures (signs, price updates, cashier records) to comply with standards.
• Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and team member development.
• Communicate opportunities to improve community engagement or store performance to team leaders.
• Assist team members when they are not acting as manager-on-duty or learning operational tasks.
