About Perthyn

Perthyn is a values-led, not-for-profit organisation supporting people with learning disabilities to live meaningful lives in their own homes. We are committed to person-centred support that promotes independence, choice, and belonging. Our values – Integrity, Empowerment, Innovation, Accountability, Inclusivity, Belonging, Accomplishment, and Resilience – are at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role

We’re looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team in Mansfield and the surrounding area. Perthyn operates 12 supported living homes across the region, and we are currently recruiting for three of these services, all located within a 20-mile radius of Mansfield. You’ll work as part of a small staff team supporting across a cluster of homes, helping people to achieve their personal outcomes and goals. This is not domiciliary care – you will spend your entire shift in one home, supporting people to complete their daily chores and tasks, while also helping them access and enjoy their local community.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be part of a team that supports people with a variety of interests, routines, and health needs. Each home has its own character, shaped by the unique personalities and interests of the people who live there. Support includes:

  • Encouraging independence and confidence while building warm, trusting relationships.
  • Providing personal care and medication support with dignity and respect.
  • Helping people enjoy activities such as baking, music, art, charity shopping, and community outings.

Full training and guidance will be provided, including understanding autism, mental health, and person-centred approaches.

What We Need From You

We are looking for someone who shares our values and is passionate about supporting people to live their best lives. No previous experience is required – we will provide full training.

Essential

  • A person-centred, respectful approach
  • willingness to learn and undertake training
  • Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, waking nights and sleep‑ins
  • Access to reliable public transport (due to the location of the homes)

Desirable

  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities
  • QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care

Your Rewards

  • Competitive Salary – with a generous sleep‑in allowance to boost your earnings
  • Maximise Your Income – earn up to £3,000 extra per year with one sleep‑in shift per week, or £6,000 with two
  • Overtime Opportunities – for example, one extra shift a week could add around £5,000 annually
  • Comprehensive Training – person‑centred and tailored to help you thrive in your role
  • Career Development – including support to achieve your QCF Level 2 qualification
  • Fully Funded DBS Check – we cover the cost so you can focus on your journey
  • Employee Wellbeing Programmes – because your health and happiness matter
