About Us
The Perth Observatory is Western Australia’s oldest observatory and a premier cultural tourism destination nestled in the Perth Hills.
We are a passionate, community‑driven organisation operated by the Perth Observatory Volunteer Group Inc. (POVG).
We deliver public tours, astronomy events, workshops, talks and educational experiences supported by a committed team of staff and volunteers.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager this is a varied administration and customer service role at the centre of our tourism operations.
You will be a key contact for visitors, group bookings, volunteers and staff helping ensure our tours, workshops and special events run smoothly.
Your Responsibilities will include but are not limited to
- Managing bookings, amendments, cancellations and refunds through online booking systems.
- Responding to customer enquiries.
- Preparing invoices, quotes, spreadsheets, reports and event information.
- Supporting the coordination of tours, public talks, workshops, courses and special events.
- Maintaining event schedules, booking records and operational information.
- Liaising with and coordinating volunteers for upcoming events.
- Administrative and logistical support for tours and events.
- Basic website and social media updates and newsletter content.
About You
You will have
- Strong experience in a customer service facing role.
- Demonstrated experience in administration and in the preparation of invoices, quotes, reports and spreadsheets.
- Be competent in the full use of Microsoft Office applications e. g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
- Have effective time management and organisational skills.
- Have knowledge of or experience in online booking systems, e-commerce or website platforms, Word Press and Woo Commerce.
