Perth & Kinross Council aims to work with the residents of the Perth & Kinross area to reduce the volume of waste going to landfill and offer recycling opportunities wherever possible.
As an LGV Driver, you will provide an invaluable service to the residents of the area, ensuring that all waste collected from Domestic and Commercial properties is moved to its final disposal destination in a timely manner. Your primary role will be to drive/operate various waste disposal vehicles. You will operate in various areas of Perth and Kinross. You may be required to operate a Refuse Collection Vehicle dealing with household waste collection schemes. Compliance with Communities safe system of work is essential (copies available on request).
In order to comply with Road Transport Regulations and to provide a continuous service over 7 days, shift patterns are in place. The shift pattern for this post will be 36 hours per week, working Monday to Thursday. There may be a requirement for you to be available to work overtime. You may also be available to work additional hours, outside normal working hours. Some works are planned in advance, but some may be unforeseen, in which case short-term availability may be required at short notice.
You will have the opportunity to participate in on-the-job training, and your continuous development will be encouraged and supported throughout your career with Perth & Kinross Council.
Requirements
- To be successful, you must have a CE driving licence and in-date CPC.
- You will be aware of Road Transport Regulations, be able to carry out the physical demands of the job, and as a representative of the Council, you will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public as well as colleagues.
- You will bring a positive energy; have the ability to work well as part of a team.
- You will have a full driving licence, enabling you to drive other vehicles as necessary.
- You will be aware of Health & Safety legislation, have effective visual skills with the ability to ensure the safety of other road users and pedestrians, and be able to carry out vehicle inspections, ensuring that your vehicle is safe to drive and meets all legal requirements.
- You will have the ability to operate a tachograph and to navigate in and around the Perth & Kinross area.
