- IT Technician, 2 Posts (Fixed Term until 31 March 2027) – PKC13322
- Post 1 – £30,689 - £32,866 (36 hours per week)
- Post 2 – £18,413 - £19,719 (21.6 hours per week)
- Location: Carpenter House, Perth
You will provide first and second-line technical support across Perth & Kinross Council and contribute to IT projects as required. The role involves delivering high-quality ICT support through Helpdesk services and on-site assistance across PKC locations during school and business hours, with occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends. You will also support and guide IT students and colleagues in their daily tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Working collaboratively to install, configure, maintain, and support ICT equipment, peripherals, and standard software.
- Providing first-line support by logging, prioritising, and resolving user queries and faults via the IT Helpdesk.
- Assisting with the maintenance of the Council's ICT asset register and performing system data input.
- Preparing written and verbal progress reports as required.
- Carrying out other duties as allocated.
Skills & Experience Required
Candidates must be educated to HNC level in an ICT-related discipline or have substantial experience in a professional ICT support environment. You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.

- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and build effective working relationships.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload.
- Experience in handling technical enquiries and providing specialist advice, including investigation and problem resolution.
- Clear and confident communication skills, able to explain technical issues to users with varying levels of knowledge.
Technical Expertise Required
- Microsoft Windows 11 operating systems and PCs in an enterprise environment.
- Enterprise printing solutions.
- Microsoft 365 (Office 365).
- IT Service Management (ITSM) or Helpdesk software.
Desirable Experience
- Supporting Android smartphones, iPads, and audio-visual equipment.
- Using Active Directory and Microsoft Management Console (MMC).
- Working with Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM).
- Using service desk tools such as Ivanti Service Desk.
- Familiarity with automated call distribution (ACD) systems.
- Previous experience in a Council or educational environment.
