The overall purpose of the job is to ensure that Perth & Kinross Council\’s fleet of vehicles, plant & mechanical equipment are maintained to a standard that complies with the Road Traffic Act, DVSA & Department for Transport. This includes adherence with and contribution to the development of all health & safety policies, procedures & practices.

Successful candidates who have been short listed will be required to attend an interview.

The workshop operates a shift system consisting of an early shift and back shift Monday to Friday 6am until 6pm on a rotational basis, therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to participate in these working patterns.

Skills & Experience Required

Relevant mechanical qualifications required are City & Guilds Parts 2 & 3, City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 or N/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of certification.

Working in the motor trade as Motor Vehicle Mechanic or Technician and preferably have experience of the repair & maintenance of commercial vehicles, heavy plant and equipment and a working knowledge of hydraulic repairs.

You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross. Holding an LGV C+E licence would be advantageous.

You will have the ability to work within a pressured environment and being able to meet own and team deadlines is vital.
