Main Purpose of the Role

We currently have the following opportunity: Pupil Support Assistant (Fixed Term until 31 March 2027) - PKC13935 £17,669 - £18,614 (27.5 Hours per week, Term-time only) Tulloch Primary School, Perth.

At Tulloch Primary School we aim to create an ethos where we encourage one another, build on values and promote a spirit of courage and compassion. We aim to provide and maintain a safe and nurturing environment in which pupils are happy and can reach their full potential. We are an inner city school in Perth with a total of 395 pupils across 14 mainstream classes, 2 ISP classes and a term time nursery.

As a Pupil Support Assistant (PSA), you will work as part of our team supporting children and young people who have additional support needs to access learning under the direction of other members of the team. Children and Young People can have a range of needs that are short lived or more long term. These, at different points in their education, may require additional support. The PSA role is varied and may include supporting children and young people who present with needs which may include:

  • Social and Emotional Learning
  • Communication
  • Physical
  • Personal Care

Some children may present with distressed and challenging behaviour as a result of these needs. The PSA may have a role in supporting positive behaviour management programmes and individual support plans.

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

  • A genuine interest in the development of children and their wellbeing.
  • Kindness, empathy and patience.
  • An ability to engage with children and young people.
  • Confidentiality in relation to children, young people and their families.
  • Experience (paid/voluntary) of supporting children and young people with additional support needs within an Early Years Setting or within Early Level within a Primary School.
  • Some roles require travel between settings so for these posts an ability to travel is essential.
