Main Purpose of the Role

We currently have the following opportunity: Pupil Support Assistant (Fixed Term until 1 May 2026) - PKC13492 £17,067 - £17,988 (27.5 Hours per week, Term-time only) Fossoway Primary School. This Pupil Support Assistant role entails supporting children with additional support needs using a nurturing approach. In this role, you will work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to support children and young people with additional support needs, ensuring they have access to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of tailored educational programs and activities.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils with diverse needs, including social and emotional challenges.
  • Support positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Build trusting and positive relationships with pupils.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individual support plans.

Whilst we are keen to employ a member of staff for the full 27.5 hours per week, we will consider two part-time positions, job-sharing these hours. Please indicate on your application which of these options you would prefer. Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorship for this post.

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and motivated person to join our team at Fossoway Primary School. Although there are clear directions for children's learning at tasks, you should be able to use your initiative to support learners in a motivating, nurturing and engaging way. Key skills, experiences and qualities include:

  • A genuine interest in the development and well-being of children.
  • Kindness, empathy, and patience.
  • Ability to engage effectively with children and young people.
  • Experience (paid or voluntary) in supporting children with additional support needs is desirable.
