Main Purpose of the Role

Working within Perth & Kinross Council is more than a job; it’s about being part of something meaningful. It’s about being part of an organisation that puts people at the heart of all we do and provides opportunities to make a real difference by enhancing every life we touch.

We currently have the following opportunity: Project Co-Ordinator (Fixed Term until 31 March 2027) - PKC13587 £31,759 - £34,011 Ruthvenfield Depot, Perth. Perth and Kinross Council are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to lead on a new project to digitise and map our Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO’s). The post will be based within the Road Safety Team and will work closely with colleagues who write and promote TRO’s on a regular basis.

The person would be responsible for implementing new software, Statmap, which will enable TRO data to be easily interrogated and amended. Much of this data will need to be interpreted and then input into the various GIS systems. The person will be responsible for liaising with software providers, legal staff, IT and their Traffic and Network colleagues to manage and validate the data. They would also be responsible for managing the project programme and providing feedback to other stakeholders.

In addition to this project, it is expected the person would gain significant knowledge of the systems. They would therefore be in a good position to assist with further GIS work to help manage, update and improve our asset management mapping across the team. There may also be an opportunity to gain experience in other areas of the team depending on project progress and opportunities.

Skills & Experience Required

Candidates require to be skilled individuals who can demonstrate initiative and take responsibility for decisions to achieve desired results. The post primarily requires desktop work and so good computer skills are essential. Familiarity using GIS systems is desirable, but training will be provided. Experience using AutoCAD would be beneficial but not required.

It is expected you will have well-developed written, oral and presentation skills, and the ability to communicate confidently, clearly and precisely with a broad and varied audience. You will be a team player, but also self-sufficient, able to multitask and work with minimum supervision. You will have initiative, sound judgement and a confidence to work across all levels of the organisation and be able to form effective partnerships both internally and externally.
