Main Purpose of the Role

Your duties will include the day-to-day operation of your allocated vehicle, transferring loads to landfill and other processing plants using artic bulk trailers from Friarton Depot and any other PKC depots in Crieff, Blairgowrie and Pitlochry, as required. You will also be responsible for the collection and delivery of various types of recycling materials associated with the Council's kerbside collection schemes, recycling centres and recycling points.
The vehicle allocated to you will be used for uplifting municipal waste and various recyclable materials. However, we require flexibility to meet the demands of the service and therefore you may be required to uplift other types of waste or work on different vehicles, including 8, 6 and 4-wheeled rigid vehicles. You may also be required to operate the ancillary equipment on these vehicles, at the discretion of your line manager.
You will be required to comply with the safe systems of work for Waste Disposal. This role operates on a shift pattern, with the contracted shift pattern for this post being Friday to Monday (36 hours per week). To comply with Road Transport Regulations and provide a continuous service seven days a week, you will be required to work weekends.

Skills & Experience Required
It would be advantageous to have experience operating plant and machinery, including a loading shovel, telescopic loading shovel, forklift truck or Hiab, as well as experience driving left-hand drive vehicles. The role includes the day-to-day operation of the site's loading shovel and the loading of various waste and recycling materials into trailers, demountable containers and skips.
