Kinross High School is seeking an ambitious and motivated Principal Teacher of Support for Learning to lead and develop our Support for Learning (SfL) provision. The postholder will have strategic and operational responsibility for supporting pupils with Additional Support Needs (ASN) across Staged Intervention Levels 1-3, working in partnership with staff, families, and partners to remove barriers to learning. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a forward thinking school community and take on a whole school leadership remit for inclusion and equity. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing inclusive practice, supporting colleagues to meet diverse learner needs, and raising attainment and achievement for learners with ASN, particularly in the Senior Phase.

The role includes:

  • Leading and managing staff within the Support for Learning team
  • Strategic oversight of ASN Staged Intervention Levels 1-3, ensuring effective planning, tracking and review
  • Supporting the delivery of school improvement priorities, with a strong focus on inclusion, equity, and closing the attainment gap
  • Working collaboratively with faculties to embed inclusive, needs led approaches to learning, teaching and assessment
  • Driving improvement in outcomes for learners with ASN, with a particular emphasis on attainment, achievement and sustained destinations in the Senior Phase
  • Using data and professional judgement to inform targeted interventions and support planning
  • Working effectively with parents, carers and partner agencies in line with GIRFEC principles
  • Contributing to a culture aligned with our school vision: Learning Together, Achieving Together
  • Modelling and promoting our school values: Ambitious, Responsible, Resilient and Compassionate

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking for an experienced and inspirational middle leader who demonstrates:

  • A proven track record of improving outcomes for children and young people with ASN.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience of managing, coaching or supporting staff.
  • A clear understanding of PKC Staged Intervention, inclusive practice and needs led planning.
  • Excellent practice in supporting learners, including those with complex and overlapping needs.
  • Experience of improving attainment and achievement for learners with ASN in the Senior Phase.
  • The ability to think strategically and contribute to whole school improvement.
  • Confidence in working collaboratively with staff, parents, carers and multi agency partners.
  • A positive, reflective and values driven ethos which aligns with our school values of ambition, compassion, resilience and responsibility.
