We currently have the following opportunity:

IT Development Technician (Fixed Term until 31 March 2026) – PKC13018; £27,836 – £30,295; Carpenter House, Perth, PH1 5GB.

An opportunity has arisen for someone who has recently graduated or qualified in a relevant ICT discipline. (HNC minimum)

The successful candidate will assist technicians and engineers who provide ICT technical support to The Council. During the term of the post support and guidance will be given to ensure the post holder develops their technical skills and these will be regularly assessed.

Successful candidates will be expected to be flexible in their approach and may be asked to support a number of projects / workstreams including hardware installs, desktop rollouts, VOIP telephony roll out and equipment audits.

Skills & Experience Required

Applicants will be interested in applying / developing their IT support skills and knowledge and must be highly motivated, good team workers and capable of taking responsibility for challenging workloads.

Candidates must be educated to HNC level in an appropriate discipline.

This is a development role and as such the successful candidate must demonstrate a flexible approach; show a willingness to develop their skills and knowledge over the length of the post; be prepared to take personal responsibility for their own professional development.

The main accountabilities for the post will be working within a team assisting in the installation, configuration, maintenance and support of ICT equipment, peripherals and standard software.

Provide first line support to log / prioritise / resolve incoming user queries and faults via an IT Helpdesk. Assist in the maintenance of the Council’s ICT asset register. System data input. Undertake other duties allocated as and when required. Provide written and oral progress reports when requested.

The interview will consist of questions from a panel and a technical test.
