We currently have the following opportunity: IT Development Engineer, 2 Posts (Fixed Term until 31 December 2027) - PKC13344 £33,261 - £36,508 Carpenter House, Perth.

We are seeking motivated and talented individuals to join our IT Service team as IT Development Engineers. Two vacancies are available:

  • Infrastructure Support – Networking and Telephony
  • Security & Access – Identity, Access, and Platforms

Skills & Experience Required and About the Posts

What You’ll Bring

  • Qualified or Experienced: You must hold an HNC or equivalent in a relevant field, or you have practical IT experience with a strong willingness to continue learning and developing your skills.
  • Security-Aware: You understand security principles and compliance requirements and are committed to applying them appropriately in your work.
  • Clear Communicator: Able to explain ideas and issues clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.

A valid UK driving licence would be advantageous, as the role may involve travel across Perth and Kinross.

Post 1 – Infrastructure Support (Networking and Telephony)

As a Development Engineer in Infrastructure Support, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to build your skills in networking and telephony while contributing to the delivery of essential IT services across the organisation.

  • Learn to provide technical support for voice and data networks, including LAN/WAN, wireless, and telephony systems.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining secure, resilient, and scalable network services.
  • Support key infrastructure projects such as WAN upgrades, wireless enhancements, and telephony strategy delivery.
  • Help monitor and optimise network performance and ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Contribute to managing network hardware and software lifecycles, including switches, routers, and load balancers.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives such as SD-WAN and cloud connectivity, while supporting incident recovery and root cause analysis.

Post 2 – Security & Access (Identity, Access, and Platforms)

As a Development Engineer in Security and Access, you’ll gain hands-on experience while learning from experienced professionals. Your role will focus on supporting critical IT services and building your skills in identity and access management.

  • Learn to support identity and access platforms such as Microsoft 365, Security Service Edge, and domain services.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining access controls for cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Contribute to identity lifecycle processes including provisioning, deprovisioning, and role-based access.
  • Support infrastructure changes and incident recovery alongside experienced engineers.
  • Help maintain accurate configuration and asset data for IT Asset Management and risk mitigation.
  • Participate in governance activities, including monitoring access rights and contributing to security initiatives.
