Main Purpose of the Role

We currently have the following opportunity: Pupil Support Assistant (Fixed Term until 16 August 2026) - PKC13462 £17,067 - £17,988 (27.5 Hours per week, Term-time only) Our Lady's RC Primary School, Perth.

As a Pupil Support Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting children and young people who have additional support needs access the curriculum under the direction of teachers and senior managers. Additional support needs encompass children with complex needs and include those with challenging behaviour and will be expected to support positive behaviour management programmes and contribute to personal learning plans. Other support may involve active learning, assisting pupils with intimate care routines, when required, and supervising pupils in the playground or out of school events or activities.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Ideally you will have experience of working with children.
  • You must have good organisation and communication skills.
  • You must be able to promote active learning and play experiences.
  • Ideally you will have experience of working with children with additional support needs.
  • Ideally you will have knowledge of child protection issues.
  • Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a primary school.
  • Ideally you will have practical skills such as baking, gardening, drawing etc.
  • Ideally you will have a first aid certificate.
  • You must be able to build and maintain positive relationships with children, colleagues and parents.
  • You must be willing to work indoors and outdoors.
  • You will be committed to the wider life of the school.
  • You must be able to cope with the demands of the job and attend on a regular basis.
