An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Cook in Charge at Parkdale Residential Care Home, Auchterarder.
\\n
Parkdale is a care home for up to 30 residents and you will have the opportunity to lead, guide, and manage an experineced kitchen staff team, supporting the management team within the care home to meet operational demands.
\\n
It is essential that you have a a good understanding of dietary requirements for a variety of complex needs, supporting the need for nutritionally balanced meals to a great group of individuals, and occasionally cater for ad hoc special events such as 100th birthday celebrations, coffee mornings, and summer BBQ’s.

Skills & Experience Required
As an employee of Perth & Kinross Council we need you to have knowledge and experience of stock control / management, and Food Safety management systems.

You will also have good experience and high standards in terms of the use of kitchen equipment and the cleaning of equipment and the kitchen to the standards and requirements as set out by Environment Health Agencies and standards set.
\\n
An understanding of the Food Safety Management System would be beneficial.
\\n
It would be advantagious if you had good computer skills as you will need to use a computer for ordering purposes, full training in the PECOS ordering system will be given to the sucessful candidate.
\\n
As a person it is essential that you have a healthy and positive attitude to teamwork, and the ability to work using your own iniative.
\\n
We would like you to be very warm and approachable so you can communicate with residents regarding their dietary needs, whilst leading the kitchen team effectively.
\\n
You will also have an understanding as to the Council’s Values and Behaviours and be able to demonstrate how you can adhere to this framework.
\\n
Your flexibility will be required but appreciated to meet the needs of the role due to hours and location of work.
\\n
You will have a personable but professional approach to your communication as this is vital in your role working with frail and elderly people who may have dementia and may find communication and word finding difficult.
\\n
We will offer you training related to the role, however you will need to have or be willing to attain an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
