Main Purpose of the Role

We currently have the following opportunity: Pupil Support Assistant (Fixed Term for up to 12 Months - Maternity Cover) - PKC13724 £17,669 - £18,614 (27.5 Hours per week, Term-time only) Riverside Primary School and Early Learning Centre.

At Riverside Primary, we believe team working and a friendly, supportive atmosphere creates a happy school. A new opportunity has arisen, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, nurturing individual, who has a positive and solution focused attitude to join our team, 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm as Maternity Cover.
You will support pupils individually and in small groups within our primary mainstream classes, to help meet a range of learning needs and work closely with teaching staff. You will also support children at break and lunchtimes, working with children to encourage active play and supervising wellbeing.

Skills & Experience Required
You will ideally have knowledge and experience of working with learners with a range of additional support needs and be interested in pursuing a career working in an educational environment. We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate experience (paid/voluntary) of supporting children and young people. A genuine interest in the development of children and their wellbeing is essential, and the important qualities are empathy, patience and an ability to engage with children and young people. Sensitivity is also required when supporting individual children and to respect children's dignity and place well-being at the centre of all support and interactions. Knowledge of a wide range of learning needs and how to foster positive relationships would be an advantage. You will understand the need for confidentiality and be able to work sensitively to support learners and their families. You will also be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively within a team and on your own initiative. You will have excellent communication skills and a positive approach to working with children.
