We currently have the following opportunity: Head Teacher - Fixed Term until December 2027 (PKC13173) Β£98,973 Perth Grammar School. Perth Grammar School is a six-year, non-denominational comprehensive secondary school with a number of associated primary schools. A significant number of students who live beyond the catchment area also seek entry to the school each year.
The School Senior Management Team currently comprises the Head Teacher, three Depute Heads and a Business Manager. Perth Grammar School has a good reputation for the opportunities afforded to young people. The school values its connections with the wider world and has strong links with local community, local and national organisations, universities and colleges.

Perth & Kinross Council is looking for an experienced leader who is reflective, collaborative, and proactive in the application of new learning. As Head Teacher you will have responsibility for the development and delivery of continued high quality learning and teaching which meets the needs of all pupils. You will also be expected to lead quality assurance measures to evaluate, plan, develop and monitor the continuous improvement of the school and implement local and national objectives.

Perth Grammar School is one of a small number of secondary schools in Scotland to have achieved the Eco Schools Green Flag for the past 5 years. This demonstrates our commitment to education for a sustainable future, encouraging young people to find solutions to local and global environmental challenges. Part of this work is developing global awareness through international education. We have links with schools in Bangladesh and are developing new links with Tanzania, Germany and the USA. We have completed two successful World Challenge trips, first to Kenya in 2010 and recently to Malaysia in Summer 2014.
We have gained national recognition for our success as a sports comprehensive, in partnership with our neighbouring secondary, St Johnβs RC Academy. This has allowed us to develop a strong emphasis on health, wellbeing, sport and outdoor education. We have excellent sports facilities, including a sports stadium and running track and our games hall is home to our state-of-the-art climbing wall.
The success of our school is built on the partnership of pupils, parents, staff and the wider community. With their help, we know that we are well-placed to offer our young people opportunities to realise their ambitions whilst also encouraging them to give something back.

GTCS registration is required. The Head Teachers Education and Training (Scotland) Regulations 2019 require candidates who are appointed to their first permanent Head Teacher post from 1 August 2020 to have attained the Standard for Headship. If you have not gained this qualification, appointment can only be made on a fixed term basis for maximum period of 30 months. Perth & Kinross Council are committed to supporting candidates gain this qualification.
A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of the above mentioned mandatory pre-employment checks (including references) and will also include eligibility to work in the UK, qualifications and fitness to undertake the post.
