Main Purpose of the Role

The Breakfast Club Supervisor will lead the safe, welcoming and effective delivery of our school breakfast provision, ensuring children begin their day in a calm, nurturing and positive environment.

The postholder will:

  • Provide high-quality supervision and care for children attending the breakfast club, promoting wellbeing, inclusion and positive relationships.
  • Organise and oversee engaging, age-appropriate activities that support social interaction, independence and readiness for learning.
  • Ensure a safe, clean and structured environment, adhering to health and safety, child protection and council procedures.
  • Manage daily routines including food preparation, registers, and communication with staff, parents and carers.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to support children’s needs and contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school.

Skills and Experience Required

Essential:

  • Experience of working with children in a school, childcare or community setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
  • Ability to organise, plan and manage routines effectively.
  • A calm, caring and nurturing approach, with the ability to respond to children’s emotional and behavioural needs appropriately.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, health & safety and equality requirements within a school context.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work independently while using initiative.

Desirable:

  • Experience of supervising groups of children and/or leading play-based activities.
  • Knowledge of additional support needs and inclusive practices.
  • Food hygiene certification and/or first aid qualification.
  • Experience of working within a primary school setting.
