We are seeking a highly experienced Site Maintenance Manager to lead our clients maintenance and engineering functions at their site in Troon. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will take full responsibility for all maintenance, mechanical and electrical work, automation systems, and site projects. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience from heavy industry and a strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies. You’ll play a key role in managing the site’s production capacity and supporting the Group’s wider strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of fitters and electricians to deliver high-performing maintenance operations.
- Provide strong leadership to ensure optimal performance of people and equipment.
- Manage asset reliability, maintenance strategy, and planning through effective use of PEMAC/CMMS systems.
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet required Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
- Oversee preventive and condition-based maintenance programmes to maximise uptime and plant efficiency.
- Deliver key performance metrics including downtime, uptime, PM schedules, and workflow.
- Manage stores, purchasing, and scheduling within the maintenance function.
- Implement best practice in maintenance systems, technology, and design standards.
- Develop and mentor team members to achieve industry-leading maintenance capability.
- Control maintenance and engineering budgets, including energy and project costs.
- Drive lean maintenance systems and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
- Manage external contractors and installation partners to ensure safe, quality project delivery.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering (mechanical or electrical discipline).
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in maintenance or engineering management (experience in sawmilling or heavy industry is advantageous).
- Proven expertise in asset management, RCM, TPM, or similar maintenance strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage safety compliance and promote a safe working culture.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate others.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Proven track record of delivering performance improvements and managing change effectively.
- Results-driven approach with the ability to simplify processes and increase efficiency.
