We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a dedicated Park Ranger to join the Parks team in Newport, primarily based at Tredegar Park, with occasional shifts at Belle Vue or Beechwood Park. This 6-week temporary role supports a busy summer period, ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and efficient operation of park facilities. It’s a great opportunity to work outdoors, engage with the community, and contribute to Newport’s vibrant parks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily risk assessments and safety inspections of playground areas to comply with European Safety Standards
  • Open and close park facilities, maintaining high standards of security and cleanliness.
  • Liaise with facility users to ensure a positive experience and manage visitor behaviour.
  • Handle cash transactions, issue tickets, and collect income for facility use.
  • Prepare for and clean up after organised events in the park.
  • Collect and deliver mail, goods, and materials as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of play equipment inspections.

Candidate Requirements

  • Essential Qualifications and Skills:
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Physical fitness to perform required duties.
    • Strong communication skills and good timekeeping.
    • Experience handling cash and maintaining records.
  • Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
    • Knowledge of health and safety in play environments.
    • Operational Playground Inspectors Qualification or First Aid certificate.
    • Full UK driving licence.
    • Experience in a similar environment or manual handling.
    • Understanding of a wide range of sporting activities.
  • Documents Required at Submission:
    • Health Declaration/Questionnaire.
    • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
    • Criminal Convictions Declaration.
    • CV.
