Pertemps is recruiting on behalf of a leading high-technology engineering organisation for a Mechanical Assembly & Pipe Fitter to join their production team in Severn Beach, Bristol. This is an initial 6-month fixed-term contract, with extension for candidates who demonstrate strong performance and adaptability. You’ll work on the assembly of complex, high-precision systems used in cutting-edge scientific and industrial applications, including semiconductors, medical devices, electric vehicles, and advanced computing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble complex systems, sub-assemblies, and components to ISO and quality standards
- Carry out stainless steel pipe fitting (¼”–½”), vacuum systems, and pneumatic assemblies
- Ensure builds meet BOM requirements and customer specifications
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve build issues efficiently
- Record and report technical issues using FRACAS or similar systems
- Act as a technical point of reference and mentor less experienced technicians
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, housekeeping, and Health & Safety
- Support 5S initiatives and continuous improvement projects
Shift Pattern:
- Weekly Rotating shifts
- Early shift (Monday–Thursday) 06:00-14:00, (Friday) 06:00-11:00
- Afternoon shift (Monday–Thursday) 14:00-22:00 (Friday) 06:00-11:00
- Enhanced shift and overtime rates apply
About You:
Essential:
- Time-served mechanical apprenticeship, City & Guilds Part 3, or equivalent HND, HNC, or BTEC Level 3 qualification
- Precision mechanical fitting experience, including:
- Machining (milling and turning)
- Vacuum and pneumatic systems
- Pipe bending and fitting (stainless steel, ¼”–½”)
Desirable:
- Electrical qualifications
- Combined mechanical, electrical, and electronic assembly experience
- Experience in semiconductor or cleanroom manufacturing environments
