The Opportunity
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Civil Engineer to provide technical design expertise across a diverse range of infrastructure schemes, supporting highways, drainage and external works from early feasibility through to detailed design and delivery. The position will also contribute to the strategic growth of a key business sector with projects ranging from small-scale local improvements through to multi-million-pound developments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver civil engineering design solutions in line with current legislation, council policies and industry best practice.
- Design highways, drainage, earthworks and external works for commercial and residential developments.
- Prepare designs from appraisal and planning stages through to detailed technical delivery.
- Produce and manage technical documentation including drawings and calculations.
- Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities and statutory bodies.
- Support highway and drainage adoption processes including S278, S38 and S104.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and processes.
Candidate Profile:
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 4 years’ post-graduate experience within a consultancy environment.
- Strong knowledge of highway and drainage design standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets).
- Proven experience delivering infrastructure and external works for commercial and residential developments.
- Understanding of earthworks strategies and adoption processes.
- Confident in attending design and coordination meetings with stakeholders.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Site 3D and Flow (or similar).
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information: Fully office-based role (no hybrid or remote working).
