A globally established manufacturer of heavy construction equipment, supplying high-performance machinery into sectors including construction, quarrying, and major infrastructure. With a strong focus on engineering quality, product reliability, and technician development, they support customers through a well-structured service network and continue to invest heavily in modern diesel and electric equipment.
Due to continued growth, they’re now looking to recruit a Field Service Engineer to support their expanding UK service operation.
The Role
- Working as a mobile engineer, you’ll be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, and repairing heavy plant machinery in the field.
- The role focuses primarily on excavators and wheel loaders ranging from 9T to 95T, including newer electric models.
- You’ll be home-based with a fully equipped service van, working at customer and end-user sites.
- Travel is part of the role, with overnight stays and training attendance as required, supported by a dedicated admin and technical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, repair, and fault-find on heavy construction equipment in the field.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on excavators and wheel loaders.
- Support machine commissioning, inspections, and handovers.
- Attend customer sites including construction, quarrying, and infrastructure projects.
- Complete job reports, service records, and warranty documentation accurately.
- Liaise with internal teams to support technical resolution and product feedback.
- Represent the business professionally and maintain strong customer relationships.
About You
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Heavy Engineering, or similar.
- Proven experience working on heavy plant machinery (excavators, loaders, or similar equipment).
- Strong diagnostic skills across hydraulics, mechanical systems, and electrics.
- Comfortable working independently in a field-based role.
- Customer-focused, professional, and confident communicating on-site.
- Experience with main dealers or premium construction equipment brands is advantageous.
- Quarry Passport beneficial (support available if required).
- Exposure to electric or hybrid plant equipment is an advantage.
- Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
