The Role

As a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, you’ll boost literacy across KS1 and KS2 through guided reading, phonics, SPaG and writing workshops. You’ll run short, focused interventions, provide 1:1 support, and help pupils prepare for assessments. You’ll also assist with resources, track simple progress notes, and feedback to class teachers.

The Candidate

You’ll hold a degree (English or related preferred), communicate clearly, and build positive relationships with children. You’re organised, calm under pressure, and motivated to develop towards teacher training.

Requirements

  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Clear, confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in primary education and pupil progress.
  • Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
