Are you an experienced residential planner, with a proven background delivering applications for medium to large scale housing developments? Are you looking for a secure and long‑term role with a company who are committed to delivering new homes in Devon and Somerset for the foreseeable future? Working for a privately‑owned and successful developer in Exeter, we have a new requirement for a residential planning manager to join our team. Responsibilities

  • Lead the submission and preparation of new planning applications, directly or via external consultants.
  • Work on reserve matters and primarily change‑of‑use applications, running appeals as required.
  • Instruct, manage and monitor external consultants and work collaboratively with internal and external teams.
  • Advise on planning options and strategic feasibility, challenging planning views and decisions where appropriate.
  • Prioritise and multitask, adding value to both immediate and wider teams.

Qualifications

  • Ideally a degree in RPTI or a relevant town and planning discipline – not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of planning theory and practice, well versed in the system and local authority policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Established connections and contacts within the local network.
  • A natural problem‑solver capable of challenging planning views and decisions.
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask effectively.
