North East - Various locations across the entire North East. 6 Month Contract Monday-Friday Β£12.60-Β£15.18 DOE.
Pertemps are thrilled to be working with Northumbrian Water to support the Permitting Team to ensure NWL water operations have all required environmental permits in place and to support the timely and comprehensive reporting of pollution incidents. This role would be ideal for a graduate within the Environmental sector or someone who has previous experience or knowledge of the water industry.
Key Accountabilities:
- Support Technical Advisors in the preparation and submission of applications for new and renewed environmental permits.
- Support Technical Advisors in conducting site audits and in the completion and follow-up of associated actions.
- Engage with operational teams to collect information and evidence following suspected pollution incidents.
- Prepare draft Environmental Impact Reports following suspected pollution incidents.
- Collate and manage data on pollution incidents, including use of the Pollution Management System where required.
- Work collaboratively within the WINEP & Permitting Team to support permitting and pollution incident activities.
- Advise internal customers on best practice for monitoring potential pollution incidents and mitigating their impacts.
About you
Essential:
- University degree or equivalent experience in a subject relevant to the role.
- Basic knowledge of the water industry and environmental regulatory framework.
- Full, clean driving licence with ability to travel to remote offices and operational sites.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied and demanding workload.
- Strong report writing skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in operational roles within the water industry or utilities sector.
- Experience within the environmental sector.
