CNC Miller Setter / Operator / Programmer
Location: Birmingham

Salary: £16.00 – £20.00 per hour (DOE)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

A position has become available for a reliable and skilled CNC Miller Setter / Operator / Programmer to join a fantastic business with a small, close-knit team of precision machinists. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a well-established and reputable precision engineering company based in Birmingham.

The Role
As a CNC Miller Setter / Operator / Programmer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting and operating 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling machines
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to BS / ISO standards
  • Completing first-off inspections, prove-outs, and quality checks
  • Meeting production deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards
  • Inspecting components using micrometers, verniers, gauges , etc.
  • De-burring parts using various hand tools
  • Working both independently and as part of a team
  • Carrying out any other duties deemed appropriate
  • The Ideal Candidate
    We are looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience setting and operating CNC vertical milling machines
  • Strong knowledge of tooling and precision measuring equipment
  • The ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
  • Good computer skills with a solid understanding of CNC programs
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • The ability to plan work and use initiative with minimal supervision
  • A strong work ethic, flexibility, and a positive attitude
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime, sometimes at short notice
  • A motivated mindset and strong team-player qualities
  • Experience Required

  • Setting and operating 3-axis / 4-axis CNC milling machines: minimum 3 years
  • Setting, operating, and programming CNC machines: minimum 5 years
  • CNC Milling experience: minimum 5 years
