An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy in Central London. This role offers the chance to work on prestigious projects across the UK, with a focus on Central London, focusing on temporary works design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and assessment of temporary works, including falsework, formwork, access platforms, propping, hoardings, excavation support, and crane bases.
- Oversee a team producing detailed design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation in accordance with current codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Liaise with site teams, project engineers, and external stakeholders to develop safe, practical, and economical solutions.
- Undertake site visits and inspections to monitor the implementation of temporary works and provide technical support during construction.
- Manage the approval process for temporary works, including preparation and presentation of design briefs and design risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, health and safety legislation, and relevant quality assurance procedures.
- Assist in the development of standard temporary works solutions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and support more junior engineers and technicians as required.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in temporary works design.
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE or IStructE).
- Strong understanding of Eurocodes, British Standards, and temporary works procedures.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
