We are recruiting on behalf of a leading Further Education College for an experienced Work Based Learning Manager to join their Curriculum team (Construction & Motor Vehicle). You will lead and manage all work-based learning programmes and assessors, ensuring high-quality provision for learners and employers. This role includes business development, curriculum oversight, work placements, and leading a team to achieve growth, success rates, and targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and expand apprenticeships and workplace learning programmes
- Lead and manage the WBL team, supporting assessor performance and development
- Ensure high-quality programme delivery and compliance with awarding organisation requirements
- Build and maintain strong employer and stakeholder relationships
- Monitor success rates, retention, and learner progress
- Manage budgets, resources, and operational performance
- Promote and embed the use of technology and e-learning in delivery and assessment
What We Are Looking For:
- Strong experience leading and managing Work Based Learning or apprenticeship programmes
- Teaching/assessing experience in a relevant vocational area- Construction and/or Motor Vehicle
- Experience in staff management, performance monitoring, and quality assurance
- Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, funding, and contractual requirements
- Ability to analyse data, provide reports, and drive continuous improvement
- Professional, proactive, and resilient under pressure with a commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusion
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum Level 3 vocational qualification; assessor qualification (A1/TAQA); V1 Internal Verification; Level 4 Lead IQA (or willing to work towards)
- Teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE) and management qualifications desirable
- Excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills
- Ability to motivate and lead teams, with drive and enthusiasm for improving outcomes
Special Requirements:
- Flexible working including evenings/weekends as required
- Ability to travel independently for business purposes
