An independent planning consultancy in Teignbridge is looking to appoint a Planning Consultant to join its growing team. This is a varied and rewarding role offering exposure to a wide range of development projects, primarily across the residential and commercial sectors.
Working closely with senior colleagues, you will take responsibility for the management and delivery of a selection of planning commissions. Support will be provided at project start up, in client relationship management, and through regular review of written outputs. You will also collaborate with a small, experienced team across the full planning process.
Key Responsibilities- Researching planning histories, environmental constraints, and policy frameworks.
- Undertaking site visits across the South West.
- Day to day liaison with clients, project teams (architects, engineers, ecologists etc.), and Local Planning Authorities.
- Coordinating project meetings and preparing meeting notes where required.
- Reviewing drawings, technical reports, and supporting documents.
- Preparing Planning Appraisals, Planning Statements, and other written reports.
- Completing and submitting planning applications and associated documentation.
- Monitoring consultation responses and coordinating actions with clients and project consultants.
- Assisting with negotiation of S106 obligations.
- Reviewing decision notices and conditions, and preparing applications to discharge planning conditions or obligations.
- Managing condition / obligation discharge processes.
- Supporting additional planning-related tasks as needed.
- 3β5 yearsβ experience in a private sector planning environment (consultancy or client-side).
- Working towards MRTPI accreditation or already MRTPI qualified.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, maintain client relationships, and work collaboratively within a small team.
