An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join a national building services consultancy. This is a permanent, full-time position working within an agile and flexible framework, based from a UK office with hybrid working available.
About the role
This position sits within a collaborative team of mechanical, electrical and low-carbon engineers focused on delivering high-quality, sustainable building services design. As a national consultancy with a strong UK presence, the business delivers projects across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, public sector and net-zero carbon developments.
The role offers a high level of autonomy, technical responsibility and client interaction, with clear progression opportunities for the right individual.
Key responsibilities
- Acting as Project Lead on selected electrical building services projects
- Working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary design team on larger schemes
- Attending client and design team meetings, including delivering presentations
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
- Raising and promoting technical excellence within the electrical discipline
- Developing long-term client relationships and acting as a key point of contact
- Supporting repeat business through strong client care
- Delivering technically challenging projects across multiple sectors
- Involvement across all project stages from concept to completion
- Producing and reviewing drawings, specifications and reports
- Producing calculations or guiding others in their completion
- Working closely with colleagues to achieve project and business objectives
Experience and qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Chartered or working towards chartership preferred
- HNC / HND candidates with strong design experience also considered
- Minimum 3 to 4 years post-qualification experience in building services design
- Proficiency in design software including:
- Microsoft Office
- Relux or Dialux
- Amtech
- Revit
