We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering practice focused on delivering positive outcomes for people, place, and the planet. The successful Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer will lead the design, analysis, and delivery of complex electrical systems across a diverse range of built environment projects, combining technical excellence with strong leadership and collaboration.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communications, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and best practice
- Prepare, review, and approve detailed electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Undertake feasibility studies, cost analyses, and risk assessments to inform design decisions
- Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, civil and structural engineers, sustainability specialists, and contractors to deliver coordinated project solutions
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers, ensuring consistent quality and professional development
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations (IEEE, NEC, IEC, and local building regulations)
- Participate in site inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover activities
- Identify and implement opportunities for energy efficiency, low-carbon design, and renewable energy integration
- Manage project programmes, budgets, and resources effectively
- Actively work towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status
- Contribute to internal CPD initiatives, including Lunch & Learns, and maintain a personal Development Action Plan
- Demonstrate behaviours aligned with the practice’s values and contribute to its continued growth and progression
Skills & experience
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards professional registration
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in electrical building services design and project delivery
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical calculation software
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proven experience leading projects and working within multidisciplinary teams
- Good understanding of BIM processes and collaborative digital workflows
