PLEASE NOTE: Interviews will take place end of Jan/Feb for a March 2026 start date. Hours 8-4.45pm Monday β Friday (Early Finish Friday) Salary Β£17.78-Β£19.23 per hour.
Our specialist engineering client based in Stafford Park is looking for a full-time experienced Buyer for a minimum contract of three months, may go on longer for the right candidate.
In this Buyer role, you will be:
- Responsible for purchasing parts to support all areas of the business across both production facilities.
- Responsible for taking the list of required parts from the Engineering departments, and working with the Project Management Team to ensure spending is in line with project budgets, and the delivery dates are in line with production requirements.
- Supporting the Projects and Engineering Teams.
- Responsible for identifying potential new suppliers, negotiating pricing with suppliers, seeking discounts, discussing commercial arrangements and actively ensuring supplier delivery commitments are achieved, as well as negotiating accelerated delivery in instances when required.
- Carry out additional purchasing related duties such as arranging accommodation/hire cars and hospitality for visitors and colleagues, helping to manage stock levels and generate relevant paperwork.
The ideal candidate for this Buyer role:
- Must have purchasing, expediting, progress chasing, supply chain, spares, planning or supplier liaison experience.
- Will be comfortable operating within an engineering environment.
- Commercial acumen, with an eye on value as well as cost.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
- Confident user of MS Office software and ERP/MRP systems.
- A desire to solve problems, and to support the wider team goals in doing so.
- Is a natural collaborator and problem solver and strives for continuous improvement.
- Good attention to detail to ensure all purchase orders and ERP data is accurate.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members, clients and suppliers.
- Strong numeracy skills, to ensure accuracy of cost information presented.
