An opportunity has arisen for a Quality Inspector to join an established engineering organisation within a Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) team. The role plays a key part in ensuring incoming parts and materials meet required specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations. The successful candidate will support day-to-day quality inspection activities, contributing to customer satisfaction, compliance, delivery performance, and cost control, while adhering to health and safety and corporate procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming components and materials to verify correct quantities and compliance with purchase orders
  • Ensure components meet required quality standards and specifications
  • Liaise with relevant internal departments to support efficient booking-in and material flow
  • Maintain accurate quality records, documentation, and filing in line with company procedures
  • Support internal, customer, and third-party audits when required
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and comply with 5S principles
  • Participate in quality and QHSE activities, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Undertake training to ensure compliance with regulatory, legislative, and corporate requirements
  • Provide support across other areas of the materials management function, including kitting, stocktaking, and dispatch
  • Be flexible and willing to work overtime, including evenings and weekends, as business demands require
  • Travel occasionally for work purposes, including overnight stays where necessary

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • High level of attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and CAD drawings
  • Experience using measurement equipment such as micrometers, verniers, and other inspection tools
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to changing priorities
  • Computer literate, with basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (training provided)
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional with a proactive can-do attitude
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills and sound judgement

Desirable:

  • Time-served apprenticeship in an engineering discipline
  • Previous experience in a quality inspection or engineering manufacturing environment

Monday to Thursday: 08:00 - 16:45
Friday: 08:00 - 12:00
