Role Overview:
As an HGV Driver, you will be a vital part of a busy depot team, supporting rental, sales, and service operations by delivering and collecting generators and associated equipment. You will operate a range of vehicles from rigid lorry-loaders (6- and 8-wheeler) to tractor units with flatbed trailers, fuel tankers, and 4x4s. Your role will involve working with a diverse customer base including utility providers, event companies, and construction firms, often visiting challenging sites while providing excellent service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely deliver and collect generators and related equipment to and from customer locations using various vehicle types
- Load and unload equipment accurately, following customer specifications
- Set up equipment on-site, including starting generators, connecting fuel tanks, performing checks, and providing basic operational guidance
- Deliver fuel to customer sites using fuel tankers or bowsers
- Ensure all equipment is checked, secured, and matches accompanying documentation
- Assist customers with cable management on-site as needed
- Support maintenance and housekeeping duties in the yard, ensuring a clean and safe work environment
- Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations and company procedures, including tachograph and vehicle safety checks
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- LGV License (C+E / Old Class 1)
- Experience operating relevant vehicle types (e.g., rigid wagon with drawbar trailer up to 44 tons, tractor unit with 45’ flatbed trailer)
- Digital Tachograph card holder
- Flexibility to work early starts and late finishes as required
Desirable:
- Lorry Loader Licence (ALLMI or RTITB preferred) with proven experience
- ADR Licence (Class 3 Tanks & Packages)
- Driver’s CPC Certification
- CPCS Card Holder

Overtime Rates:
- Double time for early mornings (12am–4am Mon–Fri), weekends, and bank holidays
- Time and a half for early mornings (4am–8am Mon–Fri), evenings (5pm–12am), and Saturdays (4am–12am)
- Standard time for regular hours (8am–5pm Mon–Fri)
Additional Information:
- All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK
- DBS checks will be carried out due to the nature of the role
