Senior Practitioner – Children\’s Services

About the role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Practitioner to join a Children’s Services team in a specialist, non-caseholding role. This position focuses exclusively on completing high-quality CUBAS (Capacity to Understand and Be Aware of Safeguarding) and ParentAssess assessments, supporting practice quality and contributing to safeguarding decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake CUBAS and ParentAssess assessments to a high standard
  • Prepare detailed, analytical reports to inform care planning and court proceedings
  • Support social workers in understanding and applying assessment frameworks
  • Contribute to safeguarding decisions through expert analysis and recommendations
  • Provide evidence in court as required
  • Promote consistent, high-quality practice across the team

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Trained in CUBAS and/or ParentAssess assessments
  • Proven experience in completing CUBAS and ParentAssess assessments
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and care proceedings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and support others in assessment practice

To be considered for this post you must be registered with Social Work England and have at least 3 years’ post-qualifying experience across permanent positions in England.

  • Completed relevant post-qualifying training
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Excellent communication and written skills
