Job Description

Postal WorkerAre you ready to deliver a difference? Royal Mail is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals for Long term assignment postal and delivery driver positions. If you have a passion for community service and love being on the move, this is the perfect opportunity for you!Location: Saffron WaldenShift: Working 5 days between Monday – Sunday (every other Sunday)Hours: 07:45am – 16:24pm (due to the nature of the business flexibility is required you may be asked to cover a later shift 10:35am – 18:15pm)Hourly Rate: £13.37 basic rate (additional rate for overtime)About the roleYou’ll start your day for an hour or so in the local delivery office, loading the mail for your route, before setting out on foot or in a provided van to complete your parcel/mail round.

You’ll each be given a hand-held computer device to capture customer signatures for deliveries with each round usually taking around four hours to complete. The hand-held computer will also act as your routing system putting your round in the most economical route.About YouUpbeat and self-motivated, you’ll be as happy working alone as well as working as part of a team and getting to know different people on your round. You’ll have a strong sense of community and the idea of doing a job that involves flexible working patterns will appeal to you.We deliver post/parcels come rain or shine, so we’re looking for people who like being outdoors whatever the weather, you’ll also be someone who likes the idea of doing a job that will help you keep fit.Some experience in a customer facing role would be ideal.Driving licence requirementsA full UK manual driving licence required (in your current UK address), with no more than six penalty points is essential, but a clean licence is preferred.Royal Mail is one of the UK’s best-loved brands.
