Pertemps are assisting a construction business with a family-run feel, where people come first and staff development is valued. We’re looking for a proactive, organised Procurement Coordinator who can manage changing workloads, adapt to delays, and keep construction projects running smoothly.

The Role

You’ll play a key part in ensuring materials, suppliers, and schedules are aligned across projects. Construction is unpredictable, with weather delays and shifting priorities, so you’ll need to be flexible, solutions-focused, and able to reprioritise work at short notice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement & Materials Management
    • Source timber, engineered wood, panel products, fixings, membranes, cranes, and haulage.
    • Raise and manage purchase orders, update schedules, and track deliveries.
    • Ensure materials reach site or manufacturing facilities on time.
  • Supplier Management
    • Build strong relationships with approved suppliers.
    • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and agreements.
    • Monitor performance and resolve quality, delivery, or service issues.
  • Project Coordination
    • Liaise with design, estimating, production, and site teams.
    • Reprioritise and reschedule work to manage weather delays or other construction disruptions.
    • Resolve supply chain challenges quickly.
  • Cost Control & Reporting
    • Manage material costs within budget.
    • Identify savings opportunities, bulk purchases, and alternative sourcing.
    • Maintain accurate records and report on supplier performance, price changes, and material allocation.
  • Quality & Stock Management
    • Ensure materials meet industry standards, building regulations, and company requirements.
    • Maintain timber certifications and manage non-conforming materials.
    • Monitor stock levels, minimise waste, and plan project-specific requirements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain coordination
  • Construction industry experience (timber frame, manufacturing, or related areas advantageous)
  • Knowledge of timber and construction materials
  • Strong organisational, communication, and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Ability to adapt to changing workloads and work under pressure

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Work in a construction business with a family-run feel where your ideas and input matter
  • 28 days holiday plus extra for length of service, with Christmas shutdown
  • Free on-site parking
  • Opportunity to take ownership, develop professionally, and make a real impact
