Pertemps are delighted to be recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join our client’s dynamic head office team in Plymouth. This role is perfect for someone with a keen eye for detail and a passion for numbers, who thrives in a busy environment with genuine long‑term opportunities.

The Role

As a Finance Assistant, you will play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the finance function. You’ll take ownership of a range of cost centres and balance sheet codes, support month‑end and year‑end deadlines, and work closely with the wider Finance team to help maintain accurate financial records. Your day will be varied and will include tasks such as invoice processing, cost analysis, reporting, reconciliations and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a selection of cost centres and balance sheet codes
  • Posting and evidencing monthly accruals, prepayments and journals
  • Analysing costs against budgets and reporting variances
  • Processing company expenses and credit card transactions
  • Coding expenditure invoices through a data capture system
  • Carrying out aged creditor reviews
  • Completing supplier statement reconciliations
  • Supporting budgeting and reforecasting processes
  • Playing a key role in meeting month‑end and year‑end deadlines
  • Assisting with ad‑hoc financial tasks when required

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Ideally AAT‑qualified or working towards a recognised financial qualification
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to communicate clearly and work effectively within a team
  • Confident with IT systems, with strong Excel skills (intermediate to advanced)
  • Analytical, motivated and eager to develop within a finance role
