Office Hours: Standard office hours are normally 08:00β16:30 or 08:30β17:00. As this role involves significant time spent travelling and meeting clients, a flexible approach to working hours is expected.
Hybrid Working: This is a hybrid role. Sales personnel are required to be in the office a minimum of two days per week, with the remaining time allocated to client visits, international travel, or remote working as appropriate.
As a Technical Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving product growth by engaging with new, lapsed, and existing clients. Your role is critical in maintaining long-term profitability and ensuring success in a highly competitive market. You will be responsible for providing excellent service, accurate quotations, and professional representations of the company's offerings to clients across the globe.
Key Responsibilities- Client Engagement & Sales
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with potential clients.
- Maintain and enhance relationships with existing clients.
- Attend exhibitions globally (typically five per year).
- Revive lapsed accounts, ensuring a strong and sustainable customer base.
- Provide accurate estimates, quotations, and proposals to clients.
- Negotiate terms, including price, delivery, and quality within pre-agreed boundaries.
- Participate in monthly sales meetings, delivering detailed reports on activities and progress.
- Provide short visit reports to management following client meetings.
- Monitor market trends and contribute to statistical forecasts.
- Support technical and other sales staff in their efforts to meet client needs.
- Work seamlessly with other sales team members and related activities.
- Introduce new projects and jobs on a case-by-case basis.
- Proactively work to boost the profitability of the business.
- Aim to integrate into the management structure over time, contributing to the strategic direction of the company.
- An ad hoc training program, both in-house and external, will be implemented to ensure continued professional growth.
- This is a global role requiring significant international travel.
- International travel is expected to average approximately one week per month.
- The role may involve working outside of traditional office hours and a flexible work pattern due to the international nature of the job.
- Ability to drive internationally is preferable.
- Technical knowledge of the metals industry and possibly presswork.
- A PhD in Metals, Metallurgy, or a related discipline, or a degree / PhD in Chemistry or a closely related scientific field, is highly desirable.
- An engineering, metallurgy, or related qualification is also considered advantageous.
- Holidays: 33 paid days per year, including statutory holidays. Leave must be arranged in line with workload and agreed by management.
