Sheridan Maine is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function within a growing business. This is a key senior role responsible for ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and providing strategic financial insight to support operational and commercial decision‑making across projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior management to ensure strong financial governance, effective cashflow management, and continuous improvement of financial processes.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cashflow reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate year‑end statutory accounts and liaison with external auditors
- Maintain strong balance sheet control, including reconciliations and working capital management
- Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
- Prepare and manage detailed cashflow forecasts
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team
- Drive improvements in financial systems, processes, and reporting
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance role
- Excellent cashflow management and commercial finance skills
- Confident user of accounting systems and advanced Excel
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
- Hands‑on, proactive, and solutions‑focused approach
