Salary: up to ÂŁ45,000 per year + Bonus Scheme + Company Car + Fuel Card + Benefits

Location: WFH with travel across the North of England and Scotland

Hours: Monday to Friday, occasional overnight stays (fully paid for)

About the Role

Our client, a leading provider of industrial, medical and specialist gases, is seeking a Bulk Driver Trainer to join their transport team in the North of England. This pivotal role is focused on enhancing safety culture across the transport division, supporting the transition from a reactive, compliance-based environment to one driven by individual accountability and interdependence.

The successful candidate will take ownership of training and developing drivers across a defined region. The aim is to align all activity with the company’s HPO SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) principles, fostering line ownership, delegated responsibility and active engagement at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver high-impact training programs for all drivers in the region, ensuring compliance with legal and internal standards
  • Support cultural change by improving SHEQ performance and behaviours, with progress tracked against key lagging indicators
  • Deliver Driver CPC training as a certified professional recognised by an external competent authority
  • Act as a competent authority in driver assessment and authorisation, ensuring operational standards are met in line with corporate expectations
  • Maintain and promote best practice in transport safety through the use of certified methods such as SMITHS system training, manual handling techniques, tachograph interpretation and related technical instruction
  • Collaborate with transport leadership teams to reinforce standards, upskill drivers and identify opportunities for performance improvement.

Candidate Profile

  • The ideal candidate will be a proactive and influential trainer with a strong background in transport operations and driver development
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience
  • Full LGV licence (all classes), Driver CPC, ADR (relevant classes), and forklift truck license (where applicable)
  • Formally recognised “Train the Trainer” qualifications in areas such as SMITHS system, Manual Handling, Driver CPC and Tachograph analysis
  • Extensive knowledge of bulk transport, supply chain operations and product handling
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Membership in recognised safety or driving organisations such as IAM, ROSPA, or DSA or willing to gain this (NRI he has – recognised by DVSA)
  • Strong ability to assess performance impartially and motivate behavioural change.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • National CPC qualification
  • NEBOSH certification (training can be provided).
