Environmental & Sustainability Lead — Glasgow
Full time, permanent role. Office based.
Pertemps are proud to be working on behalf of a highly respected organisation with operations across Scotland and the UK. As the business continues to grow and deliver complex projects, they are now seeking an experienced Environmental & Sustainability Lead to shape and implement their environmental and sustainability strategy at a national level.
The Opportunity
The Environmental & Sustainability Lead will act as the strategic and operational lead for all sustainability and environmental initiatives. This person will influence senior stakeholders, drive compliance, and embed a culture of sustainability across all areas of the business — from planning and procurement through to delivery and supply chain engagement.
The role will be based across two key locations in Glasgow, with regular travel between sites. A full UK driving licence is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of environmental and sustainability strategies across the organisation.
- Support all departments to improve environmental compliance, ensure adherence to legislative requirements, and deliver corporate sustainability goals.
- Monitor and report on sustainability KPIs; identify areas for continuous improvement.
- Deliver awareness and training programmes to internal teams and external partners.
- Coordinate and lead environmental audits and risk assessments.
- Work with project and operations teams to embed sustainability considerations in day-to-day activities.
- Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, industry bodies, and community organisations.
- Act as a subject matter expert, keeping abreast of regulatory developments, policy changes, and innovations in sustainability practices.
About you
- Degree qualified in Environmental Management, Sustainability, or related discipline.
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within construction, civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure environments.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrable experience in leading sustainability programmes that have delivered measurable impact.
- Confident communicator with excellent influencing and presentation skills.
- Ability to work across multiple sites and functions with strong stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Full UK driving licence is essential.
